The Columbine shooting happened in 1999. Sandy Hook in 2012. Marjory Stoneman Douglas in 2018. Oxford High School in 2021. I can keep going.
I spent my morning asking superintendents of local school districts the following questions.
What safety protocols does the school district currently employ for the safety of students?
Are there working cameras in all classrooms and hallways?
Are there Nightlock or other lockdown devices in place?
Is there a working communication program between classrooms and law enforcement?
Are your teachers and staff trained in bleed control?
Is the staff trained to recognize the signs of danger, react appropriately, and make rapid survival decisions?
The answers are unacceptable. Here's one you can chew on.
Are you holding YOUR school district accountable?
You should be.
